Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143

Purpose of this visa:- This Permanent visa allows a Parent of Australian settled citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen is eligible to migrate to Australia.
Benefits of this Visa: – An Individual can

- Sponsor family members (eligible) to move towards Australia.
- Refer for Australian citizenship if eligibility criteria are having been met.
- Do Job-Study in Australia.
- Expedition for 5 years, to and from Australia. Applicant can travel from and to Australia as many times as he/she wants for 5 years from the grant of this visa. In case you want to travel after the initial 5 year’s travel facility.
- You will have to apply for and be granted a Resident-Return (RRV) to re-enter Australia as a permanent resident.
- If you become an Australian citizen then you don’t require a visa to enter Australia and can use it to travel and from Australia.
- Avail Medicare (Scheme of Australia for health regarding maintenance and expenditure).
Family: –
If applying for this visa as a retiree, applicant
- Can include their partner, provided partner must also be a retiree.
- Can’t include their offspring in application.
Eligibility Criteria: –
To be able to apply for settling in Australia you must
- Not have a Parent Sponsored (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa while considering for this visa.
- Have a child(eligible) settled as an Australian Citizen, Permanent resident or New Zealand Citizen(Eligible), unless appealing for the Retirement Pathway.
- Be outside of Australia while at the time of Consideration of Application.
- Have a confirmation of backing or assistance, unless the application is for the Retirement Pathway.
- Fulfill the test of Balance-of-family, unless the request is for the Retirement Pathway.
Who can sponsor for subclass 143 visa?
Sponsor: – You need to have an eligible Sponsor.
- Role of the Sponsor: – On top of all, the sponsor has to be above 18 years, along with that to be a legal holder of permanent citizenship in Australia.
- Being a Sponsor, you must help your family members to help stay or settle in Australia. You need to provide them with financial and moral support along with sufficient space to live (for the first two years).
As it is a visa based on sponsorship,
- The child of the applicants can sponsor.
- Spouse of one of their children.
- Preferably the sponsor should be above 18 years of age.
- The sponsor should be a settled citizen of Australia, a permanent resident of Australia, or a citizen (eligible) of New Zealand.
- On the other hand, a child below the age of 18 can be your sponsor under a few circumstances.
Community organizations are also allowed to sponsor your application by the Government to give that:
- There must be a relationship between the organization and your child.
- The senior agent of the organization must approve to sponsor you.
- The legal stabilization of organizations is a must in Australia.
- A minimum one year running of the organization is necessary for Australia.
The condition of financial stability is a must for the organization. You don’t need a sponsor, if applying as a retiree.
Place to apply from: –
- Applicant can be offshore or onshore while applying for this visa.
- If onshore, any family acquaintances must also be onshore, but not in the stage of immigration clearance at the time of applying.
- Similarly, if the applicant is offshore at the time of applying, accompanying family members must also be offshore.
- If applying as a retiree, you must be onshore, that too not in immigration clearance.
- While deciding of application, you can be onshore or offshore, unless you have or had a Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 173) Visa or substituted visitor visa (Subclass600) before filing your application.
- The Balance-of-Family Test: – You must clear this test. This test shows that Applicant must have at least half of their children living there in Australia on a permanent visa or more of their children live in Permanent residence in Australia than any other country.
- You need not to meet Balance-of- Family test, if applying as a retiree.
- Assurance of Support: –
- You need to own an AoS. An Assurance of Support assures Australian government that you will not have to depend on help of Australian government after entering Australia on this visa.
- This assurance is for other migrating family members too.
- You don’t need an Assurance of Support (AoS), if applying as a retiree.
- Applicant must meet the Health and Character requirements.
- Maintain Health Insurance: – In case the applicant is applied as a retiree, he/she needs to maintain enough health insurance until the grant of a parent visa.
- Insurance must cover required medical treatment, along with transport.
- Have paid Outstanding debt (if any) to the Australian Government: – If applicant or any family member of the applicant owe any debt to the Australian Government, it must be paid back or at least have formal. Arrangements to pay it back.
- Australian Values Statement: – You must sign the Australian values statement, which assures that you will abide by all Australian laws and will respect their way of living.
- Obligations: – It is necessary that you and your family abide by all laws of Australian Government
Not be eligible: –
- In case of Previous Cancelled Visa.
- Visa is not granted if it is not in the friendly interest of an applicant less than 18 years of age.

Stay: – Permanent
- This being a permanent visa lets you stay in Australia indefinitely from a grant of visa.
Processing Time: –
- Applications are subject to capping and queuing.
- No Processing time is provided for this visa as family migration visas demand is high. It might take many years for granting of this visa. Step3. Visa Application: –
- This visa needs to be applied on paper.
- You can apply onshore (except in immigration clearance) or offshore during submission of your application.
- While deciding of application, you must be offshore, unless you have or had a Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 173) Visa or substituted visitor visa (Subclass600) before filing your application.
- If applying as a retiree, you must be onshore, that too not in immigration clearance, while at the time of submission of application. Applicant can be inside or outside Australia when we make our decision.
Step 4.After Applying: –
- We will inform you after receiving your application and documents.

Step5.Outcome of Visa: – While deciding of application, you must be offshore, unless you have or had a Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 173) Visa or substituted visitor visa (Subclass600) before filing your application.
- During granting of your visa, we will inform you about your visa grant number, the date of start of your visa and its conditions.

Family: –
- While applying, the applicant can include members of the family too, in application.

Conditions for Contributory Parent Visa (Permanent) (Subclass 143) Visa.
- 8502- Applicant must not enter Australia before the person specified in the visa (Main visa holder or applicant’s sponsor in the case of partner visa) has entered Australia.
- 8515- Applicant must not marry or enter in a de facto relationship before entering Australia, otherwise visa might get cancelled.
